Frequently Asked Questions

No. Most clients are absentee owners. We handle access (lockbox/smart lock/hidden key) and send a timestamped photo report after each visit.
-
Bayfield County and nearby: Delta, Iron River, Ashland, Washburn, Bayfield, Cable, and surrounds. Farther is possible; travel fees may apply.
-
We operate with appropriate coverage for property services and can provide a certificate of insurance on request. For licensed trades (electrical, plumbing, roofs), we coordinate insured subcontractors and include their documentation with your work order.
General & How We Work
-
By property size, obstacles, and growth level. Typical add-ons:
Bagging & disposal of clippings: +$10–$25 depending on volume
Overgrown/field mowing: $100–$250 per acre (after walk-through or photos)
Trimming, edging, and bed touch-ups included/quoted per site
-
Yes—cut, pile, haul. Chipping/hauling priced after seeing volume.
-
We default to healthy heights for Northwoods turf and set a cadence that keeps it tidy without scalping. Weekly/bi-weekly are typical in peak growth
Lawn Care & Brush
-
Set per property. Common defaults:
Walkways/entries: 2"
Driveways: 3–4"
Roof raking is event-based (ice dams/heavy load) and quoted case by case.
-
We’ll review access, turning radius, and hazards. Staking required before first snowfall. We’ll flag obstacles (rocks, culverts, hidden timbers).
-
Yes, upon request. We default to products that are pet- and lake-friendlier.
Snow, Ice & Winter
-
Plan at least 4–6 weeks ahead. As soon as ice-out happens, every cabin owner calls at once. We prioritize existing clients and early bookings.
-
Book a month in advance. Freeze dates vary, and gutters, docks, and water systems need to be handled before the first hard frost.
-
We always triage safety and property risk first. If we’re at capacity, we’ll activate our subcontractor network and coordinate so you’re never left without help.
Scheduling & Lead Times
Property Check-Ins & Reporting

Signs of forced entry, critter activity, broken glass
Water intrusion, roof ice issues, gutter/soffit trouble
Heat/electric status, visible leaks, suspicious smells

-
Yes. Timestamped photos with notes sent by email. If your insurer requires scheduled inspections, we’ll include dates, times, and findings to keep you compliant.
-
Bi-weekly is a smart baseline; monthly at minimum. Some policies require documented checks—ask your carrier, then match our schedule to their terms.
-
We use lake-safe practices: controlled pressure, surface cleaners on decks/docks, and biodegradable cleaners where needed. Softwoods get low-pressure care to avoid furring. We don’t blast algae into the lake.bed touch-ups included/quoted per site
-
Yes. We pre-treat, use a surface cleaner for even results, and rinse appropriately. Slippery lake-side stairs and dock approaches are common requests.
-
Square footage, soiling level (algae/mildew), water access, and height/ladder work. We’ll give a per-sq-ft estimate or a flat price after photos.
Pressure Washing
-
Small jobs: simple estimate. Larger work: line-item scope + materials + management. Recurring services can be subscription (predictable monthly) or per-visit.
-
Parts and consumables are billed transparently. For managed projects we include a clear management percentage; for referrals we charge a flat coordination fee.

About Us
Timber & Shores Cabin Care was built on a lifetime of hard work, adventure, and problem-solving. Before launching this cabin care service, I spent years in construction—managing crews, troubleshooting projects, and learning what it takes to keep buildings standing strong through Midwest weather.
But the real test of grit came in Alaska. For years I led wilderness expeditions through mountains, coastlines, and icy rivers, where every decision mattered. Out there, you learn to read storms, fix what breaks with what you’ve got, and keep people safe when comfort isn’t guaranteed. Logistics weren’t just part of the job—they were the difference between adventure and disaster.
That same mix of mechanical know-how and logistical calm is what I bring back to the Northwoods. A frozen water line, a storm-downed tree, a plow that doesn’t show up—these aren’t just chores, they’re puzzles to solve. And I love solving them.
Timber & Shores isn’t just about maintenance; it’s about trust. It’s about knowing that when you pull up to your cabin, everything works the way it should—so you can spend your time fishing, skiing, or simply sitting in the quiet.
The wilderness taught me resilience. Construction taught me craft. Now, both come together here at Timber & Shores, keeping your cabin ready for the good part: living in it.
